SINGAPORE – Travellers will soon have more flight options to four European destinations after Singapore Airlines (SIA) announced on May 8 that it will increase the frequencies of flights between Singapore and Manchester, Milan, Munich and London Gatwick progressively from July.
The airline said in a press statement the increase is to “meet strong demand on these routes and enhance connectivity options at its Singapore hub”.
It will also launch services to Madrid via Barcelona five times a week on Oct 26. Madrid will become SIA’s 15th destination in Europe and second in Spain.
Its current Singapore-Barcelona flights will be restructured to operate on this route.
The existing route to Barcelona, which goes via Milan, will be cancelled from Oct 27 after the launch of the Singapore-Barcelona-Madrid service.
SIA’s Singapore-Manchester flights will increase from five times a week to daily from July 13, while the Singapore-London Gatwick services will increase from three times a week to daily from Oct 25.
The Singapore-Milan flights will increase from four times a week to daily from Oct 25, while a new Singapore-Munich service will be launched from Oct 26 and operate three times a week.
All flights are subject to regulatory approvals and aircraft deployment may vary due to operational reasons, said SIA.
Tickets for the new Madrid service will go on sale from June 2026 via SIA’s distribution channels, while tickets for the additional services to Manchester, Milan, Munich and London Gatwick will be released progressively.
SIA’s senior vice-president of marketing planning Dai Haoyu said the adjustments stem from strong demand for travel to Europe.
“Europe is an important market for Singapore Airlines and these adjustments reflect our commitment to it. These new services will give our customers more choice and greater value when planning their travel,” he added.
Mr Lim Ching Kiat, Changi Airport Group’s executive vice-president for air hub and cargo development, said that SIA’s introduction of flight services to Madrid will strengthen Singapore’s connectivity to Spain and give travellers more choices when flying to Europe.
“Madrid is one of Changi’s most in-demand destinations that has yet to be served by direct flights,” he said.
“Since 2022, the number of people travelling between Madrid and Singapore has grown by about 27 per cent a year, exceeding pre-Covid levels by nearly 20 per cent.”
